The Purchasing Department is a member of the administrative team of the Housing Authority of the City of Camden. The Purchasing Department is responsible for purchasing supplies, materials and equipment required and contracts for all repairs and maintenance to property and supervises purchases made on competitive bids, competitive contracts, professional services and Request for Proposals.

Statement of Purpose:

  • To provide the best service possible to all departments in fair and equitable manner
  • To ensure an atmosphere of equality to all vendors without regard to undue influence
    or political pressures
  • To protect the interests of the residents of the Housing Authority of the City of Camden

Sales calls are made by appointment only by contacting us via fax, e-mail or telephone.

All new vendors and contractors are required to submit a signed copy of the Federal W-9 Request for Taxpayer Information form and the New Jersey Business Registration prior to their first-time award of a contract or purchase order. The Business Registration Certificate MUST be submitted when quoting or bidding on all publicly advertised bids. Failure to submit the Business Registration Certificate will result in the rejection of your bid. Be sure to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS in all Requests for Quotes, Invitations for Bid, and Requests for Proposals.

All parties wishing to bid on work on or at any Housing Authority property are required to submit a copy of their valid New Jersey Public Works Contractors License.

N.J.S.A 34:11 56.26 Definitions

(5) “Public work” means construction, reconstruction, demolition, alteration, custom fabrication, or repair work, or maintenance work, including painting and decorating, done under contract and paid for in whole or in part out of the funds of a public body, except work performed under a rehabilitation program. “Public work” shall also mean construction, reconstruction, demolition, alteration, custom fabrication, or repair work, done on any property or premises, whether or not the work is paid for from public funds, if, at the time of the entering into of the contract the property or premises is owned by the public body or:

(a) Not less than 55% of the property or premises is leased by a public body, or is subject to an agreement to be subsequently leased by the public body; and
(b) The portion of the property or premises that is leased or subject to an agreement to be subsequently leased by the public body measures more than 20,000 square feet.
